What is Padel Tennis?

Padel Tennis is a racquet sport that originated in Mexico and quickly gained popularity worldwide. Here’s what makes Padel Tennis unique:

  • Court Design: Padel Tennis is played on a smaller and enclosed court compared to traditional tennis. The court features walls, adding an element of strategy to the game.
  • Doubles Game: Typically played in doubles, Padel Tennis emphasizes teamwork and communication between partners.
  • Scoring: The scoring system is similar to tennis, but with a few differences. Padel Tennis uses the same “love,” “15,” “30,” and “40” scoring, but only the server can score points.
  • Rackets and Ball: Padel Tennis rackets are solid and perforated, allowing for better control and spin. The ball used is similar to a tennis ball but with lower pressure, making it suitable for the enclosed court.

Padel Tennis Showdown:

  • Doubles Tournament: Grab a partner and compete in the Padel Tennis doubles tournament
  • Beginner Clinics: Want to learn all about Padel Tennis? Speak to the onsite team who will be able to teach you the skills from seasoned instructors.
  • Skill Workshops: Enhance your Padel Tennis skills with expert-led workshops catering to different skill levels.

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It has gained immense popularity for its simplicity and accessibility:

  • Court Design: Pickleball is played on a rectangular court divided into two sides, similar to a badminton court. The net is lower than a tennis net, making it easier for players.
  • Equipment: Players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials and a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball but slightly larger.
  • Serving and Scoring: The serving is underhand, and scoring is based on the side that faults. Games are typically played to 11 points, and players must win by at least two points.
  • Accessibility: Pickleball is known for being easy to learn, making it accessible to players of all ages and skill levels. It’s a great way to stay active and socialize.

The Sydney Racquet Club is the perfect place for your next outing – whether you are a proud expert, or just a novice wanting to learn a new sport – this is the place for you!
