The Wallflowers 30th Anniversary Tour

 

The Wallflowers bring their first ever Australian tour to Sydney this December, with the band performing their hit 1996 album Bringing Down the Horse in its entirety alongside Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Long After Dark, also played from front to back.

Featuring enigmatic leader Jakob Dylan, the tour marks a significant moment for The Wallflowers and their Australian audiences. It is the first time the band has ever performed Bringing Down the Horse in full, with the tour taking place in honour of Love Police’s 30th anniversary.

The Wallflowers bring two classic albums to Sydney

Released in 1996, Bringing Down the Horse became a defining album of its era. The record sold over four million copies worldwide and produced four hit singles: “One Headlight”, “The Difference”, “Three Marlenas” and “6th Avenue Heartache”.

For The Wallflowers, the success of Bringing Down the Horse launched a career that now spans three decades. The album remains a defining part of the band’s story, and this tour offers the opportunity to experience it performed in full for the first time.

The album’s impact was also recognised at the 1998 Grammy Awards. The Wallflowers won “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group”, while “One Headlight” was awarded “Best Rock Song”.

The 30th Anniversary Tour gives fans the chance to hear Bringing Down the Horse from beginning to end, alongside Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Long After Dark, also performed front-to-back.

“One Headlight” remains a cultural mainstay, topping Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time Adult Alternative Songs” chart in 2021. Alongside “The Difference”, “Three Marlenas” and “6th Avenue Heartache”, the track helped make Bringing Down the Horse one of the defining records of its era.

With both albums played in full, the Australian tour celebrates the music and legacy of two great albums while marking a special milestone for The Wallflowers.

The Wallflowers across Australia this December

The Wallflowers’ first ever Australian tour arrives in December as part of their 30th Anniversary Tour. Featuring Jakob Dylan, the band will bring Bringing Down the Horse and Long After Dark to audiences across Australia.

At Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter, the evening will centre on two great albums, played in full, by one great band.
