The prolific Egyptian-Australian DJ and producer is known worldwide as a multidimensional multihyphenate whose work bends elements of techno, IDM, jungle and breakbeats with homely inflections of Arabic instrumentation. The result is a hypnotic sound built for speakers, with bass-heavy club music at its core.

This Sydney show marks the natural next step for moktar, with a night that will see him move through two distinct forms.

The night begins with a powerhouse DJ B2B alongside fellow Australian electronic figurehead Roza Terenzi. Together, two of the country’s most commanding and forward-thinking selectors will push through heavy-duty bass, techno, breaks and club sounds.

The performance arrives as moktar prepares to release ‘Bank Storm’, the next single from his upcoming record. It follows the release of ‘Wrong’ and ‘Bang’, as well as the debut of his live show in Naarm/Melbourne.

From moktar to a defining electronic voice

moktar’s debut self-titled EP, moktar, was released via Steel City Dance Discs in 2022. The release became a defining statement of intent, receiving widespread praise for its raw emotional weight, genre-defying production and deeply personal exploration of identity, migration and belonging.

The EP established moktar as one of Australia’s exciting new electronic voices, earning support from DJs, radio stations and tastemakers globally.

Over the last few years, moktar’s rise has accelerated through international tours across Europe, the UK and Asia, alongside festival appearances at Glastonbury Festival, Dekmantel Festival, RISING, Sugar Mountain and Sydney’s Vivid Festival.

He has also supported some of electronic music’s most revered names, including The Prodigy.
