Kylesa marks the return of the legendary American group to Australia and New Zealand after more than a decade away. Bringing their iconic blend of stoner rock, psych, sludge, metal and punk to Sydney in February 2027, Kylesa will perform at Liberty Hall, Entertainment Quarter, Sydney.

Kylesa formed in Savannah, Georgia, in 2001 and spent 15 years building a reputation for their primal heaviness, experimental sound and relentless touring schedule before going dark in 2016. Across a series of EPs and records, the group developed a worldwide following while moving between musical scenes and influences that were difficult to categorise.
Their sound draws from indie rock, punk, classic heavy metal, doom, death, psychedelic and kraut rock. The result is a distinctive wall of sound that has seen Kylesa become key figures in the creation of the Georgia metal scene.
Led by guitar and vocal duo Laura Pleasants and Phillip Cope, Kylesa have picked up where they left off with a new rhythm section featuring Roy Mayorga and John John Jesse. Mayorga’s credits include Nausea, Soulfly, Stone Sour, Ministry and Jerry Cantrell, while Jesse is also known for his work with Nausea.
Kylesa’s music has been described by journalist David Peisner of Spin as that of “dark psych-metal titans”, with an aggressive yet hazy stoner sound. The description reflects the band’s ability to bring together seemingly contrasting influences, from Black Sabbath and Black Flag to early Pink Floyd.
After returning to perform at the 2025 Roadburn Festival, Kylesa went on to announce appearances at ArcTanGent Festival, Inferno Fest and A Colossal Weekend. Since then, they have made selective appearances at festivals and theatres across the globe.
Now, Kylesa will finally descend on Australian and New Zealand shores in February 2027, bringing their unique and experimental sound back to audiences after more than a decade away.
Support in Australia comes from renowned post-rock trio Solkyri. Known for pummelling riffs and delicate melodies, Solkyri’s electric live show has taken them across the UK, EU and Australia.
The trio have toured alongside acts including Trail of Dead, We Lost The Sea, sleepmakeswaves and Blackwater Holylight, adding a powerful post-rock presence to Kylesa’s Australian shows.

Experience Kylesa’s return to Australia and their unmatched experimental wall of sound at Liberty Hall, Entertainment Quarter, Sydney, on 5 February 2027.
