Gilles Peterson, the renowned DJ and music connector returns to Sydney for a day party celebrating soulful sound, global rhythm and boundaryless dance music at Liberty Hall, Entertainment Quarter.

For more than four decades, Peterson has traced connections between jazz, soul, electronic music and global sounds across club culture and beyond. His work has helped reshape how these sounds are heard, shared and understood, creating connections between movements, artists and audiences.

For Peterson, music has always been about context as much as selection. Through radio, labels, festivals and DJ sets, he has helped surface new movements while creating space for existing ones to evolve. His influence reaches beyond individual genres, with a focus on the musical ecosystems where improvisation, club culture and diasporic sound intersect.

The event is shaped further by Amsterdam duo Kamma & Masalo, whose back-to-back sets have developed into a fluid and instinctive dialogue since 2014.

Their approach reflects Amsterdam’s eclectic club tradition, moving between eras and styles with ease. Their sets balance deep record knowledge with euphoric, high-energy instinct, creating a distinctive musical conversation between sounds and generations.

Away from their DJ sets, Kamma & Masalo have also helped shape their local scene through projects including listening bar Doka and their Brighter Days platform on Rush Hour. The platform has become a space where emerging and established selectors can sit side by side.

Bria brings a Sydney perspective

From Sydney, Bria brings a distinctly local perspective shaped by her Dharawal/Eora roots and her role as host of Thursday Lunch on FBi Radio.

Her sets move across bass-heavy club sounds, breaks, percussion-led cuts and left-field vocal moments. Driven by rhythm, contrast and energy, Bria represents a new generation of Sydney selectors moving fluidly between communities and dancefloor contexts.

Fresh from a Boiler Room debut, Bria adds a distinctly Sydney voice to an event built around discovery, shared musical language and the connections between different strands of dance music.
