Candlemass Australian Tour will bring Swedish epic doom metal pioneers to Australian shores for the first time ever this September and October, including a long-awaited debut show in Sydney at Liberty Hall, Entertainment Quarter.
Formed in Stockholm in 1985 by bassist and main songwriter Leif Edling, Candlemass are recognised as one of the true architects of epic doom metal. Alongside Saint Vitus and Trouble, the band helped define the genre with slow, crushing riffs, grand operatic vocals and darkly majestic compositions.
Their 1986 debut, Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, did more than introduce a new band to the world — it created a movement. Across the following four decades, Candlemass have built a towering discography and an enduring global legacy.
Candlemass Australian tour comes to Sydney
For the first time ever, Australian audiences will have the opportunity to experience Candlemass live as part of their long-awaited debut tour across Melbourne, Sydney and Perth this September and October.
From the monumental weight of Nightfall and Ancient Dreams through to the modern doom mastery of The Door to Doom and Sweet Evil Sun, Candlemass have consistently delivered epic, crushing metal.
Their arrival in Australia marks a significant moment for fans of the band’s four-decade legacy, bringing their monumental sound and hymns of doom to Australian stages for the first time.
Candlemass have also earned Swedish Grammis Awards and were nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in the US.

The Entertainment Quarter has a 2,000 spot multi-storey car park open from 6.00am to 2.00am, 7 days a week. The maximum height clearance for the car park is 2.1 metres.
